Bergamo Travel Guide

Bergamo is divided in two parts with two distinctive atmospheres. The Città Alta is the old part of town with its small steep streets and many churches. The Città Bassa brings you the fast paced Italian life of the modern industrialized north. Most travellers head for the Città Alta immediately. The main attractions are the Piazza Vecchia with its Renaissance buildings such as the Biblioteca Civica and the Palazzo della Ragione. The Piazza del Duomo is well worth a visit with its wonderful marble façade.
